Services for Clients

Assessment & Treatment

Irini has a niche practice focusing on reading, writing, and spelling.  For these practice areas, she will conduct an assessment to determine a student’s areas of need.  Irini’s assessment is tailored to the concerns expressed by parents, caregivers, or clients themselves, and may involve standardized assessment, dynamic assessment and observation.  Assessment findings are then reviewed with parents or caregivers and a customized therapy plan is created to support the needs of the students. Irini is very committed to understanding each child she sees, and strives to see the whole child as many factors contribute to a child’s progress and success.

Consultations

Parents, caregivers, and professionals who are seeking guidance on a specific child can request an individualized consultation.  During these consultations, Irini will provide professional support and guidance on the student’s case.  Consultations include review of the student’s case history (including medical), needs, problem solving regarding next steps, as well as recommendations for any additional assessments required and therapeutic targets and approaches. Consultations include assessment and intervention recommendations in the areas of speech, language, literacy, and learning disabilities.

OSSLT Preparation

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for reading and writing across all subjects up until the end of the Grade 9 year. The test is administered in Grade 10, and successful completion of the test is one of the requirements to graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students entering grade 10 and wanting support for their high school literacy test can connect with Irini for a finite number of sessions to support their readiness for this test.
