Who is Irini?

Mom

Irini is a mother of two boys, a Speech-Language Pathologist, and founder of SL3 – Speech, Language, Literacy & Learning, based in Durham Region, Ontario.  Irini’s practice focusses on the areas of reading, writing, spelling, executive functions, and learning disabilities.  Irini is able to relate to many of her families as she also has a child who struggles with language, literacy, and learning.  She understands how this evolves through the developmental timeline, and the ongoing battles families face in a fractured education system.

Experienced Clinician

Irini was a medical Speech-Language Pathologist in both in-patient and out-patient hospitals, as well as community care before founding SL3.  Irini’s background in healthcare ensures that she understands the complexity of factors that go into a client’s learning and development.  In addition, Irini has pursued extensive additional trainings focused on reading, writing and spelling development, including Orton-Gillingham, Structured Word Inquiry, Spelling for Life, and countless others.  Irini’s training and experience has led her to be recognized in the community. Specifically, families of children deemed “treatment resistant” or “non-responder” to previous reading interventions are often referred to her.  Irini is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto, and has also lectured at Durham College and Georgian College.

Mentor

With a clinical history spanning two decades, Irini has provided countless hours of mentorship to speech-language pathologists.  Whether a new clinician looking for support, or a seasoned professional looking to expand their practice to literacy, Irini has supported many colleagues through their practice development and built capacity for providing excellent client-centered therapy.
